Have you seen the newest cat vs cucumber video? This hilarious video has gone viral recently and if you watch it, you will definitely see why.
After getting your laugh in for the day, you have to wonder, what makes cats get so scared and freaked out, from a cucumber for example?
According to Dr. Rodger Mugford, who is a specialist in animal behavior said, "I think that the reaction is due to the novelty and unexpectedness of finding an unusual object secretly placed while their heads were down in the food bowl.” That's one behavior of cats, they are suspicious for the unexpected or unknown. They are always ready for danger of any predator. We have the same reaction too. Like when we see a model spider unexpectedly appear in our path.
So a cucumber is one example that your felines have a fear for. But what else scares cats?
Either from a vacuum cleaner to a hairdryer, or even outdoor fireworks, cats are commonly scared of loud noises. They will probably run off to a place they would consider safe, like a closet or bed. This is a normal behavior, and it’s nothing a person should stress about. Also having a new pet in your home can scare you kitties. Your current cat finds a new animal as an invader to its territory. This may take a bit for your pets to get used to each other, but it will eventually work out.
Your kitty also may be afraid of strangers. A person that your feline doesn't know can be quite alarming to them. An idea to stop such behavior would allow your guest to give your kitty a treat right when they enter your home. After awhile, your felines would look forward to the arrival of new people and not have to fear.
